David Lindley - El Rayo-X (Asylum AS 52 283)

David Lindley had already worked extensively with such artists as Jackson Browne, Linda Ronstadt and Crosby and Nash as a first rate multi-instrumentalist and session musician before going on to release his debut solo album in 1981. EL-RAYO-X was a veritable potpourri of styles including everything from early Rock and Roll and Blues, Reggae and Doo-Wop, Cajun and Zydeco to music reflecting Middle Eastern and world influences. Produced by Jackson Browne, the album was recorded in Los Angeles and features an eclectic mixture of original songs and choice covers such as Twist and Shout, Bye Bye Love, Petit Fleur and Mercury Blues.
