Great British Folk Festival 2018
The Great British Folk Festival has been running annually for nine years now, the first festival taking place over the chilly winter weekend of 2010, with memorable performances by Kate Rusby, Donovan, Oysterband and Sandi Thom amongst other. Since then, the festival has grown and has featured performances by a veritable who's who of British folk luminaries, including The Unthanks, Fairport Convention, Steeleye Span, June Tabor, The Young'uns, Capercaille, Trecherous Orchestra, Bellowhead, Altan, Home Service, Eddi Reader, The Full English, Fotheringay, The Albion Band, Barbara Dickson, Jim Moray, Cara Dillon, Seth Lakeman, Thea Gilmore, Show of Hands, Holy Moly and the Crackers, Chumbawamba, Fay Hield and an almost endless list of other equally notable acts. There have been one or two unexpected surprises along the way, such as Jona Lewie, Bob Geldof, Phil Cool and Ed Tudor Pole, making things a little more quirky than your regular folk festival.
With two main stages, Reds and the Centre Stage, together with an 'Introducing' stage and an acoustic stage, the weekend is set for a full-on winter experience, once again bringing some of the best known acts on the folk and acoustic music scene, including Lindisfarne, Lau, Ralph McTell, Oysterband and Jon Boden and the Remnant Kings.
Northern Sky is pleased to be bringing highlights from the festival once again, with a fully illustrated overview here on the Northern Sky website, together with the Northern Sky Vaults podcacst both before and after the event.
